Professor Hongxia Wang, Georgina Sweet ARC Laureate 2024!!

🎉 Exciting News in Perovskite Solar Cell Research! ☀️

We are thrilled to share that Professor Hongxia Wang, from the QUT Centre for Materials Science, has been awarded a prestigious $3.02 million ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship for her groundbreaking research in perovskite solar cell technology.

Her project, titled “Molecular engineering and doping for efficient and affordable solar cells,” aims to transform the future of solar energy by improving the durability and cost-effectiveness of next-generation perovskite-based solar cells.

🔬 Professor Wang’s team will use molecular engineering and controlled doping — the strategic introduction of impurities into semiconductors — to stabilize perovskite materials, enabling their large-scale application in solar technologies. These solar cells, fabricated using low-cost coating methods, already demonstrate exceptional power conversion efficiencies. This project focuses on making them longer-lasting and economically viable, with the potential to replace current technologies that depend on expensive, precious-metal-based materials.

This achievement not only highlights the world-class research being conducted at QUT but also marks a major step forward in advancing affordable, sustainable energy solutions.

👏 Congratulations, Professor Wang! We’re excited to see the impact your work will have on the future of solar energy.
